May 31, 2005: My third iPod

Broken iPodThat's right. My third in eight months. My second iPod, which arrived February 23rd 2005 broke a couple of weeks ago. Today I have received my second replacement. Suffering from similar symptoms as the previous plus I couldn't update it and then screen stopped working.

Apple have been pretty good though. I called them last Monday, they picked it up on Tuesday and now I have a brand new one. Lets hope this one lasts.

Some people just don't have any luck. I've still got my first iPod that I bought a couple of years ago. It's been through some knocks as well - my heart sank as I pulled my headphone cord by accident at the gym and I saw it crash and go skidding across the floor. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

Yeah, maybe a bit unlucky. Although as I said, Apple have been very good. It's only taken a week. Lets face it, as much as I like my latest toy and get upset when it's gone, there's far more important things in life to worry about. At least, that's what I try to tell myself.

I think it's an omen for you to follow in this man's footsteps:

I feel for you. I'm on my 3rd and it's currently dead. In my attempt to get this one replaced, the "genius" at the Apple store said that they wouldn't continue replacing them and told me that I'm causing them to fail, all the while holding my 3rd which hardly has a scratch on it.

Good luck, I hope they don't pull that "you're causing this" crap on you.

I was having a lot of problems with my Gen3 iPod not holding it's charge - the battery would only last 20 minutes.

Decided to take the plunge and went for a iPod battery replacement kit from myBoomBox in the UK.

They sell Sonnet battery kits, which even come with movies on CDROM to show you how to do it.

All sorted now...
